How it works

Request
An employee picks a leave type and dates. If the balance is short, Birch offers unpaid leave instead of failing.
Approve
The manager sees the balance and who else is off that week. Requests left waiting are escalated to HR after a few days.
Balance
Approval writes to the leave ledger. Year-end carry-forward applies your caps, and people are warned before leave expires.

In detail

Leave types. PTO, sick, personal, bereavement, parental, unpaid, comp time, jury duty, military and FMLA, plus Indian earned, casual and sick leave.
Yearly grants. Balances are granted each January and pro-rated for people who join mid-year.
Carry-forward. Unused leave rolls over at year end within your caps and expiry, with a weekly use-it-or-lose-it reminder.
Team calendar. One calendar of who is off, with public holidays on it.
Public holidays. A calendar per country. India's national holidays are loaded for you; add US, company and optional holidays.
Balance adjustments. HR can adjust balances, import opening balances and see every transaction.
Leave encashment. For Indian earned leave, as part of full and final settlement.

Not yet: accrual per pay period or per hour worked; balances are granted once a year.
