Run India payroll

More → India Payroll appears when your company has employees in India.

Before your first run

1. On the Salary Structures tab, select Create Structure and set up the components you pay (for example Basic, HRA and allowances).
2. Give each employee their CTC: open Admin → Employees, choose the person and use the CTC & Payslips tab.

Each month

1. On the Payroll Run tab, choose the month and year.
2. Select Generate Payslips and check the results.
3. Select Publish All to publish the payslips.

Birch works out PF (12% employee and 12% employer on Basic plus DA), ESIC (0.75% employee and 3.25% employer for gross pay up to ₹21,000 a month), Professional Tax by state, and TDS from employees' investment declarations. Reports and files

On the Reports tab you can download:

• Wage, PF, ESIC, PT and Bonus registers.
• The ECR file to upload to the EPFO portal.
• ESIC files: the monthly register and the ESIC portal file.
• A bank file for salary transfers (NEFT/RTGS, HDFC, ICICI, SBI, or a generic CSV).

Each employee's India Compliance tab also covers investment declarations, leave encashment, gratuity and Form 16.
