Birch is open to teams we've invited from the waitlist. If your email isn't on the list yet, the sign-up page shows Join the waitlist.
Create the workspace
- Go to the sign-up page, enter your Work email and select Send code.
- Enter the 6-digit code from your inbox and select Verify.
- Enter your first name, last name and (optionally) job title, then Continue.
- Enter your Company name.
- Under Which countries is your team in? choose India, United States or Both. For India, also pick a working week of 6 days (8 hours a day) or 5 days (9 hours a day).
- Pick your team size and select Create workspace.
You become the workspace Owner. Birch sets defaults for your countries:
- India: time zone Asia/Kolkata, overtime after 48 hours a week at 2x, monthly pay period.
- United States: your browser's time zone, 40-hour week, overtime after 40 hours at 1.5x, biweekly pay period.
It also suggests a leave policy for each country and starts a 14-day Pro trial. No card is needed.
Work through the setup checklist
A Finish setting up Birch bar appears at the top of every page until you're done. Select it to open the checklist:
- Confirm your company details: check your logo and settings, then select Looks right.
- Pick a leave policy: review the suggested policy and select Use this policy, or See all leave policies.
- Review public holidays: select Open holidays to check them, then Holidays look right.
- Invite your team: select Invite people. This step ticks itself once you've sent an invitation. See Invite your team.
- Make a first leave request: select Request time off. You can't approve your own request, so ask a teammate to approve it, or invite someone and have them make one.
When every step is done you'll see You're all set up.
